Print/Audio Quality

The print is presented in 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 with a 1.78:1 aspect ratio. Colors are deep and well saturated throughout the entire presentation. Blacks are strong and almost inky at times. Nowhere did the image ever appear soft with such strong colors and black levels. Flesh tones were also natural. The image is squeaky clean showing no imperfections. Blue tints look very strong as this color is used in several scenes when we are in the various fantasy world settings. The CGI never once looks like we are in a made believe fantasy world and is really incorporated very well with the live action portions of the film.
Video Quality: 9.5/10

The audio is presented in DTS-HD MA lossless 5.1 mix. For a television show, I came away with this being close to a demo worthy mix. The soundfield is immersive at all times no matter if it is the special effects or dialogue. I was literally amazed with the amount of panning from each speaker in the rears. It sounded as if there were all kinds of action going on in the room. Bass was punchy as it shows with the amount of effects and explosions. Dialogue is also well placed in the center channel sounding crisp and clear. The sound effects in Storybrooke and when we make it to the various fantasy world parts of the show stand out a lot.

Final Thoughts

Having hope and love conquering all are just too of the many great themes in the series. The show mixes these themes with adventure and suspense. The first 6 seasons were wonderful. Season 7 wasn’t the best but it still made a decent conclusion.
