Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) is reopening the Greek island villa resort in honor of her late mother Donna (Meryl Streep). She invites her three fathers (Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård, Pierce Brosnan), her mother’s best friends Tanya (Christine Baranski) and Rosie (Julie Walters), along with many others for the reopening. She decides not to invite her grandma (Cher). The movie also follows young Donna (Lily James) as she travels through Europe meeting her three boys and falling in love with a rundown villa on a Greek island.
If you love the first movie, there is nothing not to love in this sequel. In fact, this one eliminates the bad solo guy singing and replaces them with Lily James who is an energetic eager performer with a better voice. Mamma Mia 2 isn’t perfect, but there’s certainly a lot about this movie will leave you singing and dancing in the isles come the credits, and that really is a triumph. The movie injects just the right amount of comedy to keep it light and amusing, and it includes an amazing soundtrack, a surprising amount of heart, and I was extremely impressed with how it managed to juggle the themes of love and loss.
Movie Quality: 10/10
The print is presented in 2060p/4K with a 2.40:1 aspect ratio. ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’ is a beautiful looking film on 4K BD. I found this print to be rather eye pleasing with vibrant colors. Fleshtones are very natural and accurate, considering that we see a few bare necessities throughout. Black levels are solid throughout. The image was also sharp with excellent details. The details on the island looks really good and stunning that would not disappoint those that love to see every single detail in their films.
Print Quality: 9/10
The audio is presented in a Dolby TrueHD 7.1/Dolby Atmos mix. Dialogue s handled very well, I never felt like there were any issues with the audio. The score and soundtrack of the film really brings the film to life right in your living room. Music and other sounds throughout the film can be heard clearly. The sound stage does a nice job at whatever is thrown at it, especially some of the lighter ambient noises in the film which sounded very good.
