First Blood (1982) is a classic action movie that started all action genre one man army types action movies. It is my personal favorite movie of all time. I am a huge Rambo fan and I love John Rambo character. I love First Blood, Rambo: First Blood Part II and Rambo to death.
He never fought a battle he couldn’t win–except the conflict raging within his own soul.Academy Award-nominee Sylvester Stallone stars as war hero John Rambo. An ex-Green Beret haunted by memories of Vietnam, he was once the perfect killing machine. Now he’s searching for peace, but finds instead an over-zealous, small-town sheriff who’s spoiling for a fight. All hell breaks loose when an unjustly imprisoned Rambo escapes and becomes the target of a massive manhunt. Now he must use all his cunning, combat skills and weapons training to stay alive and outwit his pursuers. Co-starring Brian Dennehy and Richard Crenna, ‘First Blood’ is an explosive action-thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the final, powerful frame.
Movie Content: 9.5/10
The print is presented in 2160p/4K Ultra HD with a 2.35:1 aspect ratio. Sylvester Stallone has such a way with the atmosphere in his action films and the way they are produced to make you feel like you’re a part of the action. He takes the filming back to the jungle where most of the action takes place. This is one of those films that shows how much picture quality has transitioned from the various formats over the years and now on to the 4K Blu-ray format. What is interesting here is that this is a rather darker looking film that does benefit with the transition to 4K. Colors are natural looking providing an excellent looking picture. Flesh tones are natural and accurate looking. When compared to the previous Blu-ray release, the details are where this film shines the most with the camera even panning away in many scenes. HDR isn’t as prevalent here as one would hope for, but that is very understandable considering the age of the film. For a film set as a period piece, this western really shines through.
Print Quality: 9/10
The audio is presented in DTS-HD MA lossless 5.1 mix. The audio mix here is very similar to the ones that was released on the Blu-ray release. This is a atmospheric and immersive sounding film even for it’s age. The rears provide quite a few times where sound effects panned across the speakers. There are many scenes that are outside which also take advantage of the soundfield providing some dynamic sound. Dialogue is clean through the center sounding ever so crisp.

The Final Word
‘First Blood’ is the best of the Rambo series mine personal favorite action film. The movie has beautiful music score from Jerry Goldsmith. While “First Blood” is not Shakespearian cinema, then it is still a fantastic and wholeheartedly entertaining movie in 2018, whether or not you like Sylvester Stallone or not.
