Viktor Drago is training under his father Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) in snowbound Ukraine. Ivan has lived in sad infamy ever since his loss to Rocky. To regain their family honor, they travel to Philadelphia to challenge newly crowned champion Adonis Johnson (Michael B. Jordan) who has been carefully managed by Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone). Meanwhile, Adonis proposes to Bianca (Tessa Thompson).
I was really blown away by just how good the movies was and already looking foward to the next one! I’m really liking what they are doing with the Creed franchise. Even though it’s in the same universe as the Rocky’s movies, you can definitely feel it has its own groove and style. The soundtrack, for example, especially in the training montage was spetacular!
Michael B Jordan did a great job again as Adonis, you can feel his pain and sorrow, he’s an amazing actor overall. Rocky had a very minor role in this movie. He’s there, but I feel like they are slowly switching the focus more and more to the Creed family/characters which is a good thing.
Movie Content: 9.5/10
The print is presented in 4k/2060p with a 2.39:1 aspect ratio. This is yet another release from Warner Brothers to present a demo quality experience. Colors are vivid and provide impressive depth that pops off of the screen. The use of colors really makes this a visual experience even worth checking out if you are not interested in the film. The color red alone really shines here as we see Adonis bleed quite a bit in his boxing fight at the end of the film. Black levels are deep and inky. This is a very film like experience that looks fantastic in high definition. With such a wonderful presentation on Blu-ray, the action of ‘Creed II’ really explodes into your living room.
Print Quality: 9.5/10
The audio is presented in Dolby Atmos/DTS-HD MA lossless 5.1 mix. Just like the image quality being impressive, the audio is right up there as being demo worthy. I was very impressed as to how dynamic sound effects were presented in the soundfield. There are plenty of panning effects that will catch the viewer’s attention from all the scenes in the boxing ring to the score. Even the score gets a nice mix here. While this film does have its aggressive audio for effects and soundtrack, dialogue is also excellent. Dialogue is channeled through the center with no apparent issues as the audio was clean and crisp.

The Final Word
Creed II is everything what I expected and even better. After seeing the first movie I was curious what the second one would bring. However I think that the script writers did an amazing job.
